System Menu 4.3 released

Wii System Menu 4.3 has been released by Nintendo late this afternoon. Not much is known about it, except that it’s another homebrew killing update. If you use homebrew, or plan to use homebrew on your Wii, it is reccommended that users DO NOT UPDATE UNTIL MORE IS KNOWN ABOUT IT! At this time, HomebreFreeware is incompatible with System Menu 4.3 Disregard that, HomebreFreeware 1.43 works with System Menu 4.3. Technical details below:

This new System Menu…

  • uses IOS80
  • kills all variants of Homebrew Channel and DVDX (HAXX, DVDX, JODI, DISC and DISK)
  • deletes BootMii/IOS by stubbing IOS254
  • fixes bannerbomb, a little less stupidly this time
  • adds IOS58
  • overwrites and stubs all cIOS’ (202, 222, 223, 249 and 250), again
  • kills the ability to use Riivolution Riivolution v1.03 works on 4.2
  • still pushes the dangerous boot2 update

If you would like to use the Wii Shop Channel without updating your Wii, use a program such as Dop-SHOP or DOP-Mii

    • Just wait for a new version of the HackMii Installer to come out, it should be able to let you install the Homebrew Channel again.

  4. @Matthew H. You can’t really downgrade until a new version of HackMii Installer is released (you need BootMii and a certain other program to reinstall a trucha-patched IOS), and even then, downgrading is very dangerous and could cause an unfixable brick (I should know, I experienced it first hand). Once you can get the Homebrew Channel, BootMii, etc. back onto your Wii, you’ll almost certainly be able to reinstall cIOS, Priiloader, etc. and you’ll be back to 100%. Just tough it out for a little bit.

    tl;dr Deal with it.

i think i found a way to get Home brew on 4.3 without a new bottmii installer

    • Using the IOS41 method? Yeah, I can see how that can work. But, you still won’t be able to install the Homebrew Channel, because 4.3 automatically checks for and deletes all Homebrew Channel and DVDX titles. Actually, now I think of it, there should be on-thy-fly preloader hacks that patches the HBC checks. I’ll see if I can find them, test them on a 4.3 updated Wii, and get back to you.

    • Hmm, it’s not really a good idea to follow Youtube videos. I’m actually writing a guide for 4.3 users as part of HomebreFreeware, using various methods (cBoot2 and IOS41) in order to get softmods working on 4.3 again. If you wait 2 or 3 days, I’ll most probably have it done! No guarantees, though.
